Scion Racing Leads Two-Wheel Drive Class in Rally America National Championship

Driver Andrew Comrie-Picard and co-driver Jeremy Wimpey earned Scion Racing its first win of the season and its first ever top finish at the Sno*Drift event on Jan. 26 in Atlanta, Mich. The pair crossed the finish line five minutes ahead of the competition in the two-wheel (2WD) drive class.

"I'm so proud of the entire team, and this victory belongs to them. This season’s new Scion xD is lighter, stronger, faster, easier to service, more predictable and easier to drive,” said Comrie-Picard, known as “ACP.” “The xD ran flawlessly in its first outing, giving Jeremy and I the platform to perform our best. It was a very satisfying win, and we aim to continue being on top throughout the season."

ACP and Wimpey piloted the Scion Racing Rally xD through 20 challenging snow covered stages, winning all but one of them in the 2WD class. The victory marks the second victory together for Comrie-Picard and the Scion Racing Rally xD team.

"We couldn't have asked for a better start to the season,” said Phillip Chase, team manager. “The enhancements to the new car have proven to be successful for the first race, and we are already working to be even more competitive for the next race. We have a great team and we are looking forward to a great season."

At the end of the 20 stages, ACP and Wimpey had a five-minute lead over the second place Ford Fiesta driven by Dillon Van Way and Andrew Edwards.

“To win the first race of the season with a brand new car is a testament to the synergy of a strong car, a talented driver and a skilled team,” said Steve Hatanaka, Scion marketing and special events manager. “Scion is looking forward to more impressive racing this season.”

A sense of artistry and craftsmanship inspired the Avalon's radically new interior.

We love hearing from our happy customers. Way to go, team!

"Made my appointment online for 8:15AM even though the facility doesn't open until 8:30AM.  The staff showing up still took my car almost immediately. The newly renovated location was pleasant to wait in during my service. They had everything you could want from a service center." - M.I.

Toyota debuts Furia concept, heralds next Corolla design

After playing it safe over the last several generations of the Toyota Corolla, it appears Toyota might finally be ready to make a big leap forward. Toyota has finally unveiled the 2013 Corolla Furia Concept at the Detroit Auto Show, which hints at the future design for this automaker's popular compact (the Corolla is actually the best-selling car of all time).

The Furia Concept has a striking face with narrow headlights, vertical marker lights and a massive eight-sided grill, while its short hood and raked windshield give it a more modern look like the Civic and Mazda3. The front is overly stylized, similar to what we see on the new Camry and Avalon. Based on the most recent teaser we saw for this concept, the rear of the car will be equally sporty and modern with arrow-shaped LED taillights.

Comparing the specs of the concept to the current Corolla, the Furia is only about two inches longer and wider, but it also sits lower and has a wheelbase that is almost four inches longer. Scroll down for Toyota's official press release.

Toyota teases Furia concept ahead of Detroit debut

Toyota didn't hang any meat on the hook of this teaser image for the Furia concept, so you'll just have to make the most of the hook itself. The concept sedan will be unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and we don't know any more about its whats and whys from when it was first teased last month, we know it has ornate, bubble-accented lights and looks very Toyota-y in back.

The press release below drops knowledge on things that have nothing to do with the Furia concept. And for those of you with a taillight fetish, well, you can click the image above to enlarge.

Actress Kaley Cuoco Makes Her Super Bowl Debut in a Toyota Spot

Kaley Cuoco, star of the award-winning CBS show “The Big Bang Theory,” has a busy roster this year, including a debut in Super Bowl XLVII commercial for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.  Sweetening the pot for fans of Kaley and Super Bowl fans alike, the public will be offered a chance to “Get In The Big Game” and have their picture appear in the Toyota spot. From Jan. 4 until Jan. 12, fans can submit photos of themselves to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #wishgranted for a chance for their image to appear in Toyota’s Super Bowl commercial on Feb. 3. One photo will be selected and placed in the reveal of the commercial during the first quarter of the game.

“Not only are we pumped to have Kaley as part of our Super Bowl commercial, but we’re also excited to give fans a chance to have their photo appear in a nationally televised Toyota spot during one of the biggest sporting events of the year,” said Jack Hollis, vice president of Toyota Division Marketing at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. “We look forward to sharing our commercial with the millions of viewers who tune in to watch the ultimate football showdown.”

While details about the creative elements of the campaign will not be released until closer to its air date, the humorous nature of the commercial made Cuoco, with her comedic television background, ideal for the role.

“When I saw the concept for the commercial, I knew it was something I wanted to do,” said Cuoco.  “I’ve had a great time filming and am excited to see the finished product.”

Common mistake when driving in the snow - Thinking Your Four-wheel Drive Makes You Invincible

While vehicles with four-wheel drive typically do perform better in snowy and icy driving conditions, the technology can backfire by giving drivers a false sense of safety.

Four-wheel drive is used to send the specific amount of needed torque to each of your car's four tires to give it added traction to move forward through snowy roads. That doesn't mean, however, that you can race down the road at top speed in the snow and bring yourself to a quick stop. Four-wheel or all-wheel drive isn't going to give you the traction you need to brake. It can help you get through some difficult conditions, but it doesn't make you SuperSUV.

High five, team! A great 5-star review on Edmunds.com.

"We knew exactly what we were looking for. I got prices from other dealers and then went on Day's page to get an internet quote. They quoted a lower price by $600 via email. They found the color we wanted and next thing we were signing and driving away with our Highlander. It was easy. We did this exact same thing with our previous Highlander Hybrid back in 2006. Worked perfectly both times with Day and Day always had the lower price!" - jturton
