Summer road trip tip: Keep essential items close!

On your road trip, it is necessary that you have a pack of small essentials ready on your front seat. It is important that you keep certain items handy, like snacks and also first aid items. This will prevent you from having to stop to dig into the fully loaded trunk or find something at the store. Also, let everyone have their own bag or backpack at their feet. Have everybody participate in choosing the items that he or she would like to have it put in the box or in the backpack. You might include favorite snacks, games, music players, magazines – it’s up to each person! You’ll be happy to have these items at your disposal instead of searching for them in the back of the car.

2014 Toyota Corolla coming Thursday, now with LED headlamps

Here's what we know about the redesigned 2014 Toyota Corolla: It will have "aggressive new styling" with "available seventeen-inch alloy wheels" an "available touch screen audio" system and "available LED headlights."

We know all of this because Toyota has seen fit to release a small assortment of teaser images of the 2014 Corolla, with those descriptions attached. The latest to hit the web shows LED lighting clusters, which, to Toyota's credit, don't appear to merely mimic designs already seen in the automotive world.

We should point out that the headlights do share a link to the units seen on the Furia Concept that was supposed to foreshadow the next Corolla, though the most interesting bits – namely the honeycomb inner pattern – have been chucked while the somewhat trapezoidal main units remain intact.

Check out all four 2014 Toyota Corolla teasers in our image gallery above, and stay tuned for the live reveal on Thursday.

Car washing tip: How often should I wash my car?

Every 1-2 weeks. If your car is exposed to corrosive materials like salt, sand and industrial fallout, it should be washed often. Frequently washing your car is essential to the life of your car’s chrome and painted surfaces. Of course, these estimates may vary depending upon whether your car is kept in a garage or outside. Your neighbors or your sprinklers may be the single worst enemy for your car’s paint if your car is parked in the driveway or outside.

Monday Driving Tip - Park in the shade!

Of course, a garage is always the ideal place to park your car. But if one isn’t available, minimize interior damage from UV sunlight and heat by always trying to park your car in the shade. If no shade is available or if you find parking under a tree results in bird droppings, use a car shade to minimize the sun’s impact.
